Havura Shabbat Services

Havura services are informal, inclusive, and open to all. Dates, times, and locations for upcoming services are shared in our newsletter and Facebook page.

Shabbat services were put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, but we look forward to resuming services in Fall 2023! We will be hosting interactive teaching Shabbat services in St John's with a partner rabbi this August 18-20.

If you've been wanting to start a Shabbat practice at home or even lead a Shabbat service with Havura - this is a great opportunity to come learn and practice in a beginner-friendly environment.

Reform Judaism in Atlantic Canada

Online, Monthly

Reform Judaism in Atlantic Canada is a new and emerging progressive religious community located in Nova Scotia and serving the entire Atlantic region. This mostly virtual community is dedicated to serving those who are unaffiliated or otherwise disconnected from the existing Jewish community options in Atlantic Canada, with a specific focus on being “barrier-free” and serving interfaith families, 2SLGBTQIA+ Jews and others who are seeking a progressive Jewish community.

The community was founded by Rabbi Dr. Naj Siritsky who leads online Shabbat services once a month in addition to holiday services.

You can register for upcoming services, view recordings of past services, and learn more about this community and Rabbi Siritsky at their website: https://rabbinadia.com/

Holiday Events

The Havura celebrates Jewish holidays throughout the year with meet-ups and dinners. We have a number of young families in our community and can provide fun craft kits and learning materials for those celebrating holidays with their children.

During the High Holidays, we offer joint services in collaboration with Beth El Synagogue, also located in St John’s.
